Privacy policy

This policy explains what Novus Properties LLC (“The Deez List,” “we,” “us”) collects when you visit thedeezlist.com or subscribe to our daily email, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect your email address to send you the newsletter, we use cookie-free visit counting on the website, and we do not sell or share your personal information.

What we collect, and why (notice at collection)

• Email address (and first name, only if you choose to give it) when you subscribe. Why: to send you The Deez List and confirm your subscription. Kept: while you’re subscribed; see “How long we keep it.”
• Email engagement data: whether an email was delivered, opened, or a link was clicked, plus the approximate location, device, and email app that our email provider infers from that activity. Kit collects this automatically with a tiny image (“open pixel”) and by routing links through its click-tracking server. Why: to keep the list healthy (for example, removing addresses that bounce) and to learn which deals readers like. Kept: while you’re subscribed.
• Messages you send us, like replies, deal requests, or privacy requests. Why: to answer you. Kept: up to 24 months, or longer if we need a record that we handled a privacy request.
• Basic technical data when you visit the site (IP address, browser type, the page you asked for, the referring page). Why: our host, Cloudflare, needs it to deliver pages and block attacks, and Cloudflare Web Analytics uses it to give us aggregate visit counts. Kept: by Cloudflare under its own retention rules; we only see aggregate numbers.

We don’t collect sensitive personal information (like government IDs, financial account numbers, precise location, health data, or anything about children), and we don’t use your data for automated decisions about you.

Where it comes from

Directly from you (the sign-up form, your emails), automatically from your browser or email app, and from our service providers (Kit and Cloudflare) as described above.

How we use it

To send the newsletter, respond to you, understand which issues and deals are useful, keep the site and list secure, and meet legal obligations (for example, honoring unsubscribes). We don’t use it for anything else.

Who we disclose it to

Only to service providers that process it on our behalf and under contract:

• Kit (ConvertKit): stores our subscriber list and sends our emails (Kit privacy policy).
• Cloudflare: hosts the site and provides cookie-free, aggregate analytics (Cloudflare privacy policy).

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or someone’s safety, or to a buyer if the business is ever sold (the buyer would have to follow this policy).

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not “share” it for cross-context behavioral advertising (the terms used by California law). We have not done so in the past 12 months. We don’t run ad networks, retargeting pixels, or social-media trackers on this site. See Your privacy choices.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not set any cookies of its own and doesn’t use advertising or cross-site tracking, which is why there’s no cookie banner. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer you land on (for example, Amazon or TikTok Shop) may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy so the purchase can be credited to us. Our emails contain Kit’s open pixel and click tracking. Full details and how to block each one are on our cookies & tracking page.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track

We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC). If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for that browser (and, if we know who you are, for you), and our pages will say “Opt-Out Request Honored.” Because we don’t sell or share personal information in the first place, nothing else about the site changes. We don’t respond differently to the older “Do Not Track” browser setting, because there’s no cross-site tracking here for it to switch off.

Unsubscribing vs. deleting your data

• Unsubscribe (link at the bottom of every email, one click): you stop getting emails right away. Kit keeps your address on a “do not email” list so you aren’t accidentally re-added.
• Delete (make a request): we permanently delete your subscriber record, including your engagement history, from Kit, and delete our emails with you, except anything we’re legally required to keep. After deletion we can’t keep a “do not email” record for you, so if you sign up again later you’ll be treated as a new subscriber.

Your privacy rights

Wherever you live in the US, you can ask us to:

• Know / access what personal information we have about you, and get a copy;
• Delete it;
• Correct it if it’s wrong;
• Opt out of sale, sharing, or targeted advertising (we don’t do these, but you can still ask and we’ll record it).

Residents of California, and of states with similar laws (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Texas, Oregon, and others), have these rights by law once a business meets the law’s thresholds. We offer them to everyone anyway. You can also appeal if we decline a request: reply to our decision email with “Appeal” and we’ll review it within 45 days. If you’re unhappy with the result, you can contact your state attorney general (in California, also the California Privacy Protection Agency).

We won’t treat you differently (for example, charge you more or give you worse service) for using any of these rights.

How to make a request

Use our privacy request page or email hello@thedeezlist.com with the subject “Privacy request”. Timelines:

• We confirm we got your request within 10 business days.
• We respond in full within 45 calendar days. If we need more time (up to another 45 days), we’ll tell you why before the first 45 days are up.
• Opt-out requests are handled within 15 business days (usually the same day).

Verification: to protect you, we match the request to the email address on our list. The easiest way is to send the request from that address; otherwise we may email that address to confirm. We only use the information you give us for verification to handle the request. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission; we may still ask you to confirm directly.

How long we keep it

Subscriber data: while you’re subscribed. After you unsubscribe, Kit keeps your address in a suppression list so we honor your unsubscribe; we delete inactive, unsubscribed records periodically and always on request. Messages: up to 24 months. Records of privacy requests: 24 months (California requires this). Website logs: kept by Cloudflare under its policies.

Security

We use reputable providers, keep access to the subscriber list to the owner, and use strong passwords and two-factor authentication. No system is perfectly secure, but we’ll notify you as required by law if a breach affects your information.

Children

The Deez List is for adults. It isn’t directed to children under 13 (or teens under 16), and we don’t knowingly collect their information. If you believe a child has subscribed, email us and we’ll delete it.

Visitors outside the US

The Deez List is a US publication for US readers. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is processed in the United States. If you’re in the EU or UK, you can still use the rights above; our legal basis for sending the newsletter is your consent (given through double opt-in), which you can withdraw anytime by unsubscribing.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant (for example, we start using advertising cookies), we’ll say so in the newsletter before it takes effect.
